Prof. Claudio Scarponi

Mechanical engineer and university professor, Prof. Claudio Scarponi is one of Italy’s leading experts in composite materials for aeronautical applications, with over 40 years of experience across industry, academia, and scientific research. After an outstanding academic path culminating with honors at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome, he began his career at Aeritalia, working on advanced technologies for wind generators, before embarking on a long academic tenure at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at La Sapienza, where he held prominent educational and scientific roles.
 

He served as Professor of Aerospace Structures Technologies, Onboard Systems, and Aerospace Materials, and directed specialized master’s programs in materials and complex systems. He pioneered the development and testing of natural fibers for sustainable composites, organizing and chairing international conferences focused on this field.
 

He collaborated with companies such as Alenia Aeronautica, ENAC, and Aeronavali, and served as an expert evaluator for European projects including Clean Sky, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe. He is the author of over 50 international scientific publications, holder of innovative patents, and member of various scientific committees and leading international journals.
