Flight Instructor and Flight Inspector with over 40 years of experience in the civil aviation sector

Captain Pietro Maria Ricciardi boasts a career spanning more than four decades in aviation, with distinguished expertise in flight operations, regulatory oversight, and aviation training, both nationally and internationally. He currently serves as Compliance Monitoring Manager and Safety Manager at the Aeroitalia Aviation Academy, where he is actively involved in the certification process of the new Approved Training Organization (ATO). He also operates as a Captain on duty in Aeroitalia's Flight Operations Department.

From 2014 to 2022, he served at ENAC – the Italian Civil Aviation Authority as a Flight Inspector, qualified as Team Leader for certification, auditing, and oversight of:

• AOC (Air Operator Certificate) holders
• NCC and NCO (Non-Commercial Operations)
• SPO (Specialized Operations)
• ATO (Approved Training Organizations)
• SMS (Safety Management Systems)
• Flight Procedures (RNAV, RNP-AR, etc.)
• CRM training and assessment

During his tenure at ENAC, he participated in numerous oversight and certification teams for operators such as Alitalia, ITA Airways, Air Dolomiti, Blu Panorama, and executive operators like Servizi Aerei, Leader, and Prime Service. As Team Leader, he supervised specialized aerial operations including Aeronike, IRS, and IDS, and led ATO certification teams for AeC Roma, Urbeaero, and Aviomar. He was also assigned to train and support Flight Inspectors at the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.

His prior operational experience includes serving internationally as:

• Captain on B737 and Boeing Business Jet for VIP operations in Malta and Bermuda
• Flight Inspector for ENAV, flying Cessna C550 for navigation aid inspections under ICAO DOC 8071 standards
• First Officer and Flight Engineer on DC-8 and B727 aircraft with Alitalia and Olympic Airways
• Flight Instructor for Alitalia’s Flight Engineer to Pilot transition course

With over 10,000 flight hours, he is currently an SFI instructor on the Boeing 737-300/900, holding license IT.FCL.3333 and a first-class medical certificate.

He earned his Aeronautical Expert Diploma from the "F. De Pinedo" Aeronautical Technical Institute in Rome and has completed extensive ENAC and EU training on regulations covering air operations, aircrew, aerodromes, and EMPIC aviation authority software.

He is fluent in English (C1 level) and proficient in using various digital tools and platforms for training and communication.
