Commander of Airbus A320 with over 17,000 flight hours, he began his career as an armored corps officer before entering the Alitalia Flight Academy, completing his training at the Alghero flight school in 1989. After joining the national airline, he served as First Officer on DC-9/30, A300, and MD-11 aircraft, later becoming Captain on the MD-80 in 1999, also holding training roles such as Line Trainer and Type Rating Instructor. He subsequently obtained his type rating on the A320, on which he flew for twelve years, and is now a Captain and Instructor on the B-737.
 

He holds a multidisciplinary academic background: he graduated in Philosophy with a thesis on the moral thought of Adam Smith; earned a second-level Master's degree in Bioethics and a specialized degree in Epistemology from the University "La Sapienza" of Rome. He also holds a degree in Political Science with an international focus.
 

He is the author of numerous international scientific publications on topics such as resilience engineering, automation, and human factors, as well as five books on human factors and three popular science books on aviation. He has been a speaker at over a hundred international conferences and has worked as a consultant for the European Community on research projects such as ODICIS, ACROSS, FLYSAFE, and CLEANSKY.
 

He has taught in various university master's programs — including at La Sapienza, the University of Messina, and UniMarconi in Rome — as well as in medical training centers. He has also given lectures at the Italian Air Force during flight safety courses and collaborated with the University of Kyiv, with which he published a chapter in English on aviation safety.
 

He was Director of the Advanced Course in Airline Management organized by the STASA Study Center, of which he is currently President.
 

After serving as Flight Operations Director of Aeroitalia, he is currently the CEO of Aeroitalia Aviation Academy.
