Captain with over 16,000 flight hours on commercial aircraft including the MD-80, Airbus A320, and Boeing 777, Enrico Della Gatta has a multidisciplinary career that combines operational, legal, and managerial expertise. A former military pilot with the Italian Navy (both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft), he participated in international missions, including the well-known Achille Lauro hijacking intervention.
He holds degrees in Law, Political Science, and Maritime and Naval Sciences (with honors), and has earned numerous certifications in Safety, Security, SMS, CAMO, Human Factors, and Crisis Management.
He has held top-level positions in major airlines, including Emergency Response Manager and Compliance Monitoring Manager at Aeroitalia, Safety Manager and Quality Auditor at Alitalia, Project Manager for ESA’s IRIS program, and IATA Chairman for Emergency Response Planning.
A university lecturer and certified ICAO/ENAC instructor, he is the author of professional texts on air navigation, crisis management, and family assistance. He has also participated as a speaker at numerous international conferences in the aviation and safety sectors.
Alongside his aviation career, he is a civil lawyer and owner of an award-winning farm for the quality of its extra virgin olive oil. He speaks fluent English (ICAO Level 5) and possesses strong digital and managerial skills.
